The artworks I've selected are from school projects and artwork I’ve created for personal enjoyment.
Kurt Cobain
This is a sketch I did after seeing the People magazine cover of him.
Classical
This project was to capture the essence of ancient Greek or Roman art. I chose to imitate a caryatid (a Greek female formed column), I found this project very fun to do!
Brad Pitt
This I did after seeing the movie poster for Legends of the Fall. I was unable to get realistic hair, and his chin just would NOT behave.
Eastern Art Project
For this project, we were asked to capture and simplify the flavor of Eastern art. That is what I tried to do with this. I used watercolors and Asian watercolor brushes, something I'd never done before, it was a lot of fun!
"Shelly" from Twin Peaks
This drawing I did was inspired by the actress in the TV series and I just love it.
Skeleton, Muscles, The Complete Figure
This is a compilation of three images for three projects: Each was a successive building up of the last. Each is four pages tall, the scale of these was larger than anything I had worked on before, so that posed an interesting challenge for me.
Skeleton – Drawn in pencil
Muscles – I did this in acrylic paint as it allowed me to cover larger area in less time.
The Complete Figure - This I did with marker, I felt it created a more striking effect.
Learning by Imitation, Emulating the Masters
The intent with this project was to learn from the masters by taking one of their works and tracing it. I used John Singer Sargent's “The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit” 1882 as my drawing to trace, and I really loved the results.
Primitive - Woman Holding A Bison Horn
For this project I was to draw a primitive looking figure based on a specific work of art that I researched.
Artificial Light
A drawing dealing with the effect of artificial light (a light bulb or a candle) on a subject matter such as a still life.
Billy Corgan
This was a painting done in acrylic. Although I can see there are errors, I am still pleased with the overall effect and with how this came out.
The quality of lines
This project is intended to focus attention on the descriptive role that lines have in a drawing.
Drawing from your direct environment
Project meant to help building a memory for shapes and relationships of the objects choosen to draw.
Leonardo da Vinci: La Belle Ferroniere
I did this scetch I did to help me with shaddow and form.
Mannerist-Baroque
This project was to learn sophisticated distortions such as the elongation of human anatomy.
Pop Art
Art inspiration from commercial graphics of the lowest order.
The location of the horizon
A drawing emphasizing the option of using a low or high eye level in a perspective drawing.
Imitation the Masters
This is an acrylic painting I did inspired by Walfrido's work.
Values or "tonal" values
This project was to learn shading with lines to gain more control then shading by smudging.
Photo-Realism
This project was to learn naturalism, descriptiveness and the emulation of photography.
Helena Bonham Carter
This is a sketch I did just for practice.
